Initiative:
Certified US Customs Broker (CUSCB) Program
Status: Information Gathering Underway
Based on inputs
from current Customs Brokers and other trade related practitioners
there’s a need to develop criteria and recurring requirements
for a Certified US Customs Broker (CUSCB) Program. A base line
for such a Certification would be individual successful completion
of the Customs Broker Exam and Customer Broker licensing. The
Certification Board of Governors (CBG) Ethics & Professional
Standards Committee (EPSC) will develop and refine CUSCB Program
standards, knowledge requirements and training content.
The EPSC will
work with the trade industry and US Government in developing and
refining criteria for this effort. Once the EPSC’s recommendation
is complete, they will present a proposal to the CBG for review,
approval and implementation. Once implemented, the CBG and EPSC
will monitor and assess results of this initiative and the CUSCB
Program’s standards, knowledge requirements and training
content and make changes as/if necessary to insure goals are met
and that the curriculum remains current, relevant and responsive.
