Organization
Preamble:
The Certification Board of Governors (CBG) was incorporated
as a separate non-profit organization by the founder of the
International Import-Export Institute (IIEI), a nationally
accredited for-profit university, for a single purpose: to
enable everyone in governments and organizations worldwide
to participate openly and freely in setting the global standards
for international trade certification without the perceptions
and possible concerns over the CBG's motives and actions that
might be associated were it a for-profit entity. Accordingly,
the CBG and its volunteer organization are solely responsible
for setting (establishing and maintaining) meaningful standards
for international trade certification.
Overview:
Originally incorporated in Arizona, the Certification Board of Governors,
Inc. is incorporated in the state of Delaware as a
non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Its Mission is
to establish and maintain the highest ethical and professional
global standards of performance within the international trade
industry worldwide. The CBG is mainly a
virtual organization consisting of a volunteer staff dispersed
globally who sit on the various committees noted below.
The volunteer organization
of the CBG is comprised of an Executive Committee (EC) and
Advisory Council (AC), the Ethics & Professional Standards
Committee and the Compliance & Enforcement Committee.
Each of these bodies are made up of volunteer experienced
professionals from industry and government who are all nominated
by industry and government counterparts.
Volunteers from
the CBG work closely with the IIEI, whose task it is to provide
and administer the standards established by the CBG openly
to colleges, universities and training organizations worldwide.
Through a long term contract, the IIEI operationalizes the benchmark standards set by the
CBG and acts as the certification test administrator to individuals seeking
industry certification.
Board
of Directors: The
Board of Directors is comprised of three volunteer members:
Chairman, Vice Chairman and Board Member. This group
provides strategic vision and guidance for the on-going business

Bylaws, and Policies.
The Board defers to the Executive Committee and its various
committees all matters pertaining to establishing and maintaining
the specifics of industry certification standards and policies.
Executive
Committee: The all volunteer Executive
Committee (EC) is comprised of the President, who
presides over the EC, is Chair of the Ethics and Professional
Standards Committee, the Vice President of the Compliance and
Enforcement Committee and one volunteer nominated by the
general committee membership .
The EC directs the volunteer organization and has final responsibility
for approving the standards of certification established and maintained by
the CBG. The President and the Vice President also serve as Chairmen of the CBG's two standing bodies, the Ethics & Professional Standards
Committee (EPSC) and the Compliance & Enforcement Committee
(CEC). There is no set term for EC members.
Advisory
Council: The Advisory Council ( AC) is comprised
of eleven volunteer individuals that each serve two-year terms
and advise the CBG and it's various committees on matters
pertaining to the industry certification process and standards.
The AC offers their expertise on issues before the EPSC and
CEC. AC Members are nominated by active CBG volunteers and
must be approved by the EC.
