BIOGRAPHY - Dr. Donald N. Burton  (As of December 9, 2005)

President, International Import-Export Institute Associates

During a successful business career spanning over thirty-five years, Dr. Burton has been involved in corporate and education endeavors that span the globe.  In his most recent role, he is the Founder and the President of the International Import-Export Institute (IIEI), a nationally accredited university, where he is constantly involved in managing activities impacting businesses and governments in more than one hundred forty countries around the world.

In additional to its prestigious international trade related degree programs, the IIEI is recognized globally for its pioneering effort in establishing nine international trade certification programs, which are now the accepted standard in over 90 countries around the world. The program, which now has nine international trade related certifications, helps organizations and individuals validate their proficiency in specific trade related vocations within the international trade industry.  For example, all of the top fifty U.S. aerospace and defense contractors rely on the Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer program^Ò to validate the proficiency of their export compliance personnel.

Dr. Burton’s current activities also focus on trade compliance as an emerging profession. He is in demand as a speaker on a wide range of trade and compliance related topics, including trade compliance ethics, the changing environment of compliance and strategic integration of compliance within the organization of the 21^st century.

Dr Burton has served as a Professor of Strategic Management at major university for over a decade and a half. He completed his Doctor of Business Administration with Honors at Nova Southeastern University and received his M.B.A. from the University of Oregon’s Graduate School of Management graduating in the top 5% of his class.  He obtained a BS in Marketing and BA in Clinical Psychology with Honors from the University of Oregon.

Prior to his present position, Dr. Burton served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Midland Cascade Corporation, a privately held conglomerate with involvement in wood products, insurance, manufacturing, uranium mining, education services, retail computer stores, international distribution of computer software, and supplier of computer solutions to the automotive after-market to name a few.  He also has served as Chairman and President of Computerware Inc., a regionally active IBM authorized turn-key computer sales and service company serving the Pacific Northwest.  He has served on the boards of directors for corporations throughout the country.
