Director, Corporate Compliance, EDO Corporation
Art Causin is the Director, Corporate Compliance at EDO Corporation (EDO). EDO provides military products and professional services to the United States and allied governments, and their prime defense contractors. The company also has a number of commercial product lines which are sold to the domestic and international marketplace.
Mr. Causin’s primary responsibility is to oversee the management of all of EDO’s compliance activities. Most recently, reporting to the U.S. Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade controls, Mr. Causin serves as the Special Compliance Official (SCO) for EDO. As the EDO SCO, Mr. Causin is responsible for assessing and strengthening the company’s export compliance program.
Mr. Causin has been associated with EDO for over thirty years. Prior to assuming the position of Director, Corporate Compliance, Mr. Causin held various management positions in the company’s quality organization, during which time the company was awarded the highly prestigious “Empire State Advantage: Excellence at Work Award (formerly the New York State’s Governor's Excelsior Award). Mr. Causin also assisted several EDO business units in obtaining their International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Quality Management System (ISO 9001) registrations.
In October 2004 Mr. Causin earned a Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer® (CUSECO®) with Honors designation. Mr. Causin was the first CUSECO® to achieve the “with Honors” distinction and was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments in the January-February 2005 issue of the GlobalWatch®, the official newsletter of the International Import-Export Institute.
As an appointed member of New York State’s Board of Examiners for the “Empire State Advantage: Excellence at Work Award, Mr. Causin assessed the management systems of major New York State public and private entities. Mr. Causin also served as the Quality and Reliability Assurance Committee Chairman for the National Security and Industrial Association, and was a recipient of that organization’s “Colleague of Distinction Award”.
Mr Causin received a Master’s Degree in Business Management (MBA) from Long Island University, C.W. Post and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics from The City College of New York. His other academics associations include: Dowling College, Assistant Professor, Executive MBA and Extension Programs; Suffolk Community College, Assistant Professor Undergraduate and Extension Programs; Stony Brook University, Instructor Continuing Education Programs; and New York State Excelsior Award, Board of Examiners: 1994-1997.
